About the Opportunity

Hitachi Energy is seeking an experienced professional to lead our health strategy, encompassing comprehensive programmes covering physical, mental, and occupational health. As a key member of our Global HSE Function, you will drive strategic direction in the health and wellbeing domain.

This global position requires collaboration with colleagues, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors worldwide. Effective communication and teamwork are essential for success.

Main Responsibilities

  • To develop, deploy, and update the company's health strategy, including physical health, mental wellbeing, occupational health, and industrial hygiene.
  • Work closely with the HSE Leadership Team to establish an effective network defining and developing indicators governing health and wellbeing for employees.
  • Create and improve Hitachi Energy's health and wellbeing-related policies and processes aligned with the One HSE overall strategy, core values, and culture.
  • Promote sustainable, enduring, and equitable improvements in health, safety, and wellbeing through preventive risk-based interventions.
  • Support the development and deployment of standards and operating procedures for occupational health, safety, and wellbeing, information security, business continuity compliance standards, checklists, guidance documents, and training materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the recruitment, onboarding, and development of occupational health and industrial hygiene staff, ensuring capacity and capability building training plans are implemented and adequate professional resources development.
  • Represent Hitachi Energy efforts on wellbeing and deliver keynotes during focused internal/external events/conferences and seminars on health and wellbeing.
  • Provide expert advice on professional occupational health for employee health and rehabilitation, actively monitoring cases until a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Govern active health surveillance and provide required advice on health and safety topics, health promotion, and education to LOUs and BUs and HR function.
  • Monitor standards of occupational health for various countries where our manufacturing, service, and office locations exist in coordination with local responsible teams.
  • Lead investigations of occupational health-related events and provide root causes, as well as govern improvements.
  • Maintain close working relationships with BU health teams to monitor and ensure the highest standards of occupational health delivery.
  • Take accountability for identifying, influencing, and implementing improvements to services provided by external vendors from a health and wellbeing perspective, seeking opportunities to enhance employee offerings.
  • Review enterprise-level risk assessments to determine high health risk areas and review emergency response plans, including medical evacuation, in conjunction with HSE and security teams for local units.
  • Provide technical, functional expertise and direction as needed to location health professionals and review their performance in conjunction with local managers.
  • Conduct occasional health audits to assess the robustness of health management.
  • Define frameworks to align expectations across BUs and propose innovative solutions designed to lead the health function in new directions as needed.
  • Oversight of periodic health information and alerts publication and propagation of health and wellbeing communications.
  • Respond, together with the crisis team, to emergencies such as epidemics and major accidents, assist the security team in medical evacuations of business travellers.
  • Develop a network of relations with specialized medical centres and institutes globally providing medical expertise aligned with our global footprint.
  • Implement cultural and process change strategies for successful implementation of comprehensive and best-in-class health programs effectively addressing employee and public safety considerations.
