The Manufacturing Director will oversee product delivery in accordance with project requirements and timeline. This is a key leadership role across the organization.

  • Effective planning of goods and services procurement, logistics, and inventory management is essential to meet demand for components/raw materials originating from production and finished goods generated by customers.
  • Budget control and accurate cost accounting must be maintained within the procurement process.
  • Product bill of materials categorization and implementation of sourcing strategies appropriate for material classifications are crucial.
  • Establishing long-term supply agreements with suppliers of critical components helps mitigate long-term supply risks, establish VMI/Consignment stock agreements, reduce lead times, maximize working capital, minimize delivery delays, and minimize defects.
  • Developing resilience through multiple sources of supply for critical components and developing contingency plans and business continuity strategies are vital.
  • Sourcing and establishing long-term supply agreements with subcontract manufacturers/global EMS suppliers are necessary.
  • Developing standard BOM cost models and finished goods delivery schedules is important.
  • Managing day-to-day activities of the procurement team ensures supply chain-related activities are completed systematically, logically, and timely.
Manufacturing Responsibilities:
  • Developing detailed master production schedules and translating these into materials requirement plans aligns material supply with irregular project-driven demand and batch-wise production output.
  • Analyzing the current production system design and implementing lean principles where necessary optimizes the production system design.
  • Working with contract manufacturers, implementing line balancing within the production system maximizes efficiency output in the production process, considering cycle times, takt, waste reduction, and holding time reduction.
  • Establishing manufacturing quality control procedures and reporting methods (e.g., control charts) with both component suppliers and contract manufacturers is crucial.
  • Conducting regular monitoring of production processes ensures stability in the process and reduction in variation.
New Production Introduction (NPI) Responsibilities:
  • Working with technical teams to ensure product-related manufacturing specifications (bill of materials, drawings, assembly & test procedures) are prepared and controlled effectively.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of a framework for New Product Introduction (NPI) (e.g., stage-gate process) in the organization, including defining work breakdown structure, stage gate exit requirements, resources requirements, product development, and release schedules.
  • Ensuring products transition to production remain compliant within cost, quality, and functionality requirements.
  • Developing PPAP/APQP processes and procedures and qualifying new component suppliers using this process.
  • Working with cross-functional teams - engineering, trade compliance, quality assurance, logistics - to ensure program deliverables are achieved on time and on budget.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in science-based domains: Engineering, Business/Economics, Mathematics, Finance, or other relevant fields from reputable universities.
  • 8+ years working experience in advanced manufacturing, productization, NPI, strategic sourcing, subcontract manufacturing operations, and product transfer.
  • Proven track record of effective team leadership, motivation, and development.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, conveying instructions clearly and concisely.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Commitment to safety and quality control.
