Job Overview

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a strong background in high voltage electrical engineering.

They will be responsible for developing next-generation technologies in HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) that enable the transmission of electricity over long distances and via submarine cables.

The role requires excellent collaboration and communication skills to thrive in a multi-cultural environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calculations and simulations to determine stress on different electrical components used in the product being developed.
  • Specify testing requirements and perform high voltage tests as specified, with experience working with high voltage laboratory equipment and testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in the design process.
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with the introduction of new technologies and scientific solutions.
  • Document R&D results in the form of technical reports and presentations.

Requirements

  • A Master of Science degree in High Voltage Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience with development processes for high voltage power electronic valves or power supplies.
  • Competence with working with high voltage laboratory equipment and converter prototyping and high voltage testing.
  • Valuable knowledge of dielectric, insulation coordination, electrical creepage, partial discharge, electric and magnetic field studies, and finite element method.
  • Asset experience of power electronics in high voltage products like HVDC Converters and SVC.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required.
