Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Scientist to join our team at Academic Positions. As a Research Scientist, you will be responsible for delivering on an industry innovation research project, working closely with our team to develop and implement mechatronic systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach in a classroom and lab setting, providing instruction and guidance to students.
  • Support research and industrial project work undertaken by the university, identifying opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in technology and development projects, from specification to release and implementation, ensuring alignment with industry demands.
  • Read and understand electronics schematics and system design, applying technical expertise to drive project success.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors and suppliers, negotiating contracts and agreements.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, ensuring proper operation and maintenance of equipment, and contributing to the development of new technologies.
Requirements
  • Hold a degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Computer Science from a recognized university.
  • Have at least 2 years of hands-on experience in the design and development of mechanical and/or mechatronics systems.
  • Be proficient in CAD software, such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Have a strong understanding of DFx, specifically for fabrication and manufacturing.
  • Possess engineering and design knowledge, as well as a solid understanding of the prototype design process.
  • Have knowledge of mechatronic sub-systems and experience in basic electrical and electronics systems.
