Join us as a Vice President with the Barclays Investment Banking Division in Stockholm, Sweden. Barclays is a leading global investment bank with a significant Nordic franchise and a strong local presence. Barclays Investment Banking works on complex transactions, provides strategic and financial advice, as well as corporate finance solutions across e.g., mergers, acquisitions, structuring, and financing for corporations, financial sponsors, pension funds, and governments across all sectors in the region. The Nordic team is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with clients, understanding their needs, expectations and financial goals to deliver relevant investment banking solutions.

To be successful as a Vice President, you'll need:

- Strong academic background (a minimum of bachelor's degree)
- Strong relevant Investment Banking (corporate finance/M&A) experience or equivalent
- Experience with buy-side and sell-side M&A, equity and debt financing transactions
- Strong analytical background and experience with complex data sets
- Strong financial modeling skills and experience of building/developing operating models

Some other highly valued skills are:

- Solid work ethic, initiative, and integrity
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with team members and leadership qualities
- Excellent English oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Fluent in Swedish, Norwegian, or Danish is beneficial, but not required

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in the role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills. Additional relevant skills in identifying ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda and taking ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.

The role is based in Stockholm, Sweden.

This role is deemed as a Controlled Function role under the Central Bank of Ireland Fitness and Probity Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain relationships with clients, understand their needs, expectations and financial goals to develop and propose appropriate investment banking solutions for clients and their companies.

Accountabilities

- Development and maintenance of strong relationships with corporate clients by understanding their business, financial goals, and industry trends.
- Generation of ideas and identification of opportunities that expand the bank's client base and generate new business opportunities.
- In-depth financial analysis and due diligence on client companies to assess their financial health and valuation.
- Collaboration with legal and compliance teams to review, draft, and maintain legal documentation required for transactions, including contracts and agreements.
- Collaboration with other teams, such as Capital Markets, Sales and Trading, Research, and Risk Management, to provide comprehensive solutions to clients.
- Champion Energy Transition and Sustainability by engaging with clients on their climate, transition strategies and sustainable finance opportunities where applicable.

Vice President Expectations

- Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
- Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
- Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
- Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
- Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
- Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
