About the job

People Operations strives to revolutionize human resources the same way that Google has revolutionized search. We are helping to find, grow and keep the remarkable assemblage of talent who are our Googlers. You'll be an advocate of Google's culture and values, partnering with our business leaders to help them build their organizations and make sure all people decisions are based on data. Whether coaching our clients on how to lead their teams, navigating and resolving employee relations issues or managing programs that help develop our Googlers, you are exceptionally focused on putting them first, and being as clear and transparent as possible to help Googlers understand how people decisions get made.

As the Head of HR for Nordics, you will set country-specific HR strategies, leveraging insights from business imperatives and nuanced local needs to drive a “One Google” experience. You will also play a pivotal role in contributing to the vision for People Operations at Google.

Bringing your deep HR knowledge within the Finnish, Swedish, Icelandic, Danish and Norwegian markets, you will lean on your depth of experience in employment law, labour relations, culture, the talent landscape and experience managing senior HR professionals. You will be able to balance strategic and tactical work when needed, diving deep on risk identification and resolution as well as surfacing those themes to inform and drive the local HR Strategy. You'll bring thought leadership, insights and experience in a variety of additional HR areas, a customer-focused mindset and a track record in delivering impactful solutions to employees, teams and business leaders.

Great just isn't good enough for our People Operations team (known elsewhere as "Human Resources"). We bring the world's most innovative people to Google and provide the programs that help them thrive. Whether recruiting the next Googler, refining our core programs, developing talent, or simply looking for ways to inject some more fun into the lives of our Googlers, we bring a data-driven approach that is reinventing the human resources field. You’ll play an essential role advancing a more diverse, accessible, equitable, and inclusive Google through our hiring, promotion, retention, and inclusion practices.

Responsibilities

- Set the country-specific HR strategies by leveraging insights from business imperatives and nuanced local needs, driving “One Google” experience.
- Attract, grow and develop a high performing team. Encourage diversity and inclusion across the market and foster local employee communities.
- Identify local employment, labour relations, and compliance risks and partner with critical stakeholders to resolve issues in a timely manner. Build partnerships with Legal, Integrity, Compliance, DEI and Employee Relations teams to create forward-looking solutions that are market specific.
- Advise on employee consultation obligations and manage such processes; minimize risk and negative impact on operations. Lead HR related audits and regulatory reviews.
- Act as point of contact for Centers of Excellence (COE) to provide input to solutions and services and support COE in driving change.
