Doctoral student in the photochemical synthesis of solar cell materials and devices
Since its founding in 1827, KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities. A grand vision in chemistry is to use sunlight and simple reagents to make useful products. Photochemical synthesis is a sustainable and scalable method that yields high purity materials. This project will focus on making complete solar cells through photochemical synthesis. We will synthesize semiconductors and charge selective layers in situ through the photochemical activation of catalysts and direct photolysis. The project will make extensive use of lasers and laser-based spectroscopies for synthesis and characterization of solar cell materials. The success of the project requires excellent synthetic (organic and inorganic) and physical chemistry competences.
Supervision: Associate Professor James M. Gardner
