Join the Power Quality Global Center of Competence in Västerås

We specialize in FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) technology, which enhances power system capacity and stability. This allows more power to reach customers with minimal environmental impact and lower costs.

We are expanding our team and looking for skilled engineers with expertise in power systems and control systems for power converters. Your main task will be to ensure the dynamic performance of our control solutions based on customer grid code requirements.

How you'll make an impact

  • Support developing base solutions of the existing control system of various FACTS converters and new project specific functionalities for the control system dynamic performance of FACTS applications.
  • Responsible for the control system performance throughout the project execution from start to commissioning.
  • Undertake PSCAD and RTDS simulation studies individually or as part of a team to verify control dynamic performance of our FACTS solution.
  • Participate in verification test of the control dynamic system performance in the Factory Acceptance and Commissioning Tests.
  • Collaborate cross functionally as well as within the team, train colleagues, and offer technical support throughout the complete delivery of the project.
  • Support tenders, delivery projects, and R&D activities during control system dynamic performance studies.
  • Make reports out of verification investigations and present them to customers.
  • Understand customer needs by reading customer specifications and participating in customer meetings.
  • Coordinate and communicate with all disciplines involved in project and tender deliveries, as well as being in close connection to research and development activities.
  • Have ambition in learning and sharing critical knowledge in today's power system and control system of high-power converters for FACTS applications.
  • As Sweden is the Global Center of Competence for FACTS engineering within Hitachi Energy, you will be in frequent contact with the other engineering disciplines, project managers, customers and other Hitachi Energy units in an international environment.

Your background

  • You hold an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • You are an expert in power systems and control system analysis and have at least twenty years of job experience in this field.
  • You have strong knowledge and background in control theories of high-power electronic converters.
  • You have solid knowledge in PSCAD, RTDS, and Hidraw or any equivalent tool to develop control systems that run in real systems installed in the field.
  • You have hands-on experience in developing complex control functions in Hitachi Energy's MACH control systems using Hidraw or in an equivalent C/C++ platform.
  • Since you will be working in an international environment it is essential that you communicate fluently in English. Additional language skills are qualifying but not required.
  • Your ability to work independently, in a team, and to assume responsibility for given tasks is a key to success.
  • It is essential that you have good communication skills and can work in a dynamic and multicultural environment.
