Position Overview

In this role, as Customization Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and documenting product customizations and customer-specific solutions within the Customization RFQ and Customization Order processes. By collaborating closely with internal teams and understanding customer requirements, you will ensure that tailored product modifications align with both technical feasibility and business objectives. Your contributions will play a key role in enhancing customer satisfaction and delivering solutions that meet unique needs.

This role is based on-site at Permobil's brand new cutting-edge innovation center in Birsta, Sundsvall, at the state-of-the-art facility, which unites research, manufacturing, and sustainable practices under one roof. Our commitment is to cultivate an inclusive environment that enhances accessibility, participation, and the development of world-class mobility solutions for the future.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Evaluate customer inquiries and determine feasibility of product customizations,
  2. Assess risks and propose solutions in collaboration with Quote/Order and Customization Technicians,
  3. Design product customizations and customer-specific solutions based on prescriptions,
  4. Develop and maintain documentation, including risk assessments, design plans, and instructions,
  5. Lead the development of adaptations and unique customer products,
  6. Support technicians during customization construction as needed,
  7. Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless customization processes,
  8. Identify and address quality, environmental, and safety deviations,
  9. Contribute to process improvements and participate actively in the Continuous Improvements Team,
  10. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to enhance customization capabilities.
Qualifications & Skills
  1. Technical education from a college, university, or equivalent background,
  2. Proven experience in leading and driving improvement initiatives,
  3. Strong knowledge of systems, workflows, methods, and tools related to product development,
  4. Hands-on workshop experience,
  5. Strong skills in MS Office, QMS and ERP systems,
  6. Proficiency in both spoken and written Swedish and English; proficiency in German (spoken and written) is merited,
  7. Creative problem-solving abilities to develop and recommend effective customization solutions,
  8. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
