Uppsala, Uppsala, Sweden Uppsala Monitoring Centre Full time

Would you like to contribute to the safer use of vaccines and medicines for everyone everywhere? We are seeking a dynamic, multilingual Customer Engagement Specialist to join our Customer Engagement team. This is a temporary position, initially for 12 months, to cover for a colleague on parental leave.

Since 1978, UMC has been dedicated to developing, supporting, and expanding the field of pharmacovigilance science and practice.

As a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre, we support work around the world to examine the potential adverse effects of medicines and vaccines and contribute to safer, more informed patient care.

We are a diverse, international group of pharmacists, physicians, data scientists, system developers, communicators, and many other professionals, all motivated by a deep belief that our work matters.

About the role

The External Engagement department at UMC offers solutions for the secure exchange and global use of pharmacovigilance data. We manage the entire customer journey – from building awareness to ensuring customer retention.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting new business opportunities.
  • Selling UMC products.
  • Strengthening existing relationships to ensure continued use of UMC products.
  • Contributing to the development of customer engagement strategies.
  • Assisting in the sales process.
  • Collaborating with other departments on various projects related to our product offering.

What you will do

  • Assist customers in selecting the appropriate product for their needs, while building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Highlight the value of our products to promote standardisation and encourage long-term use.
  • Coordinate and organise customer-related activities as needed.
  • Establish yourself as a partner to customers – not just a vendor – by acting as a resource, sharing networks and contacts, guiding them to relevant business areas, and understanding their motivations and challenges in clinical trials and drug safety.
  • Analyse and understand customer needs to identify new opportunities for UMC products.
  • Assist the Customer Liaison team in resolving complex customer inquiries.
  • Support the Customer Liaison team during the customer renewal process when necessary.
  • Provide analytical and administrative support for department- and organisation-wide projects.

Skills and requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or natural sciences (e.g. pharmacy, chemistry, biology, or civil engineering).
  • Experience in B2B sales/support and/or in the life sciences industry.
  • Experience working on projects and collaborating with clients, partners and/or cross-functional teams.
  • Good understanding of MS Office, CRM systems (especially Salesforce), and other relevant software systems.
  • Language skills:

- English: Fluent

- Native proficiency in at least one of the following languages: French, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, or Portuguese.

Who you are

You are a positive, committed team player who is organised and efficient. You have excellent communication skills and consistently prioritise customer needs. Building relationships, both externally and internally, comes naturally to you. You thrive on challenges and pushing yourself to excel.

We believe you:

  • Are calm, organised, and resilient, and can perform well in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Enjoy daily interaction with customers from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Find satisfaction in improving and defining processes and structures, using new technologies to enhance customer journeys and engagement.
  • Will contribute positively to our department's culture, collaboration, and growth.
