We are currently seeking an experienced Grid Manager to join the Project Delivery team of our Onshore Wind Business Unit.

In this role, you will oversee the technical aspects of grid connection agreements in onshore wind projects, with a particular emphasis on the Swedish market. The position also involves Electrical Engineering design and contracting components.

You will directly report to the Head of Construction Design, collaborating closely with your team members, the wider Project Delivery department, and various internal stakeholders such as Market & Site Development, Procurement, Offshore Wind, and Operations & Asset Management.

Establishing and nurturing relationships with external stakeholders (e.g., DNO and TSO) and specialist consultants is essential to offer the necessary support throughout the development process. Effective management of external partners is a crucial aspect of the role.

Expect occasional travel to other Vattenfall locations up to twice a month.

Main Responsibilities & Tasks

Primary

  • Assess grid capacity requirements for new sites and conduct grid connection feasibility studies to identify optimal connection points
  • Engage with Distribution Network Operators and Transmission System Operators on grid technical matters
  • Facilitate discussions with grid operators on connection possibilities and oversee grid company relationship management
  • Negotiate grid technical requirements, draft contract documents, and secure necessary grid connection agreements aligned with project strategy
  • Challenge requirements where applicable and propose alternative, cost-effective grid connection solutions
  • Demonstrate strong commercial acumen in terms of contract compliance, cost management, and assessing engineering solutions' value
  • Provide accurate information on grid tariffs, connection expenses, and substation equipment for project financial modeling, covering both investment and operational costs
  • Monitor and mitigate grid risks in collaboration with project/risk managers during development and construction phases
  • Ensure windfarm compliance with relevant internal, local, national, and international regulations and grid codes for timely asset energization and operation

Secondary

  • Develop and review electrical designs
  • Offer technical and commercial assistance to project development and construction teams on grid and electrical BoP-related queries
  • Share knowledge, support, and guide team members
  • Prepare and review electrical content in tender and contract documents for BoP and WTG packages
  • Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders throughout the wind farm project lifecycle, emphasizing development and construction phases
  • Lead negotiations for electrical volume in WTG and BoP contracts
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years' post-grad experience in electrical engineering and grid design in Sweden, preferably within the wind power sector
  • Extensive familiarity with Swedish grid codes and other relevant industry standards
  • Deep understanding of power systems, grid technical requirements, and experience in grid operator connection processes
  • Proven track record in negotiating electrical/grid contracts with grid operators
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing tender and contract documents
  • Background in wind farm electrical BoP design
  • Involvement with regulators and participation in industry consultations
  • Driver's license (desirable, but not mandatory)
  • Proficiency in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written, is essential
