The British Embassy in Sweden is a vital part of our global network, representing British interests abroad. We are seeking a part-time Community Liaison Officer (CLO) to collaborate closely with Embassy management to ensure the well-being of UK-based staff and their families.

Main purpose of the job:

As a Community Liaison Officer (CLO), your role involves providing advice, guidance, and advocacy for UK-based staff and families on family and community matters, including information gathering, welfare, and communication.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Information gathering and reporting: Providing essential information for UK-Based staff and families on various aspects such as spouse/partner employment, children's education, childcare, and other relevant resources to facilitate a smooth transition. This entails updating embassy resources with pertinent details for diplomatic staff and HQ, ensuring it is inclusive and welcoming.
  • Welfare/Community/Support: Ensuring the well-being and integration of staff and families into Sweden and Embassy life, offering support and acting as a point of contact for any questions or challenges. Organizing community events and maintaining communication channels to enhance the sense of belonging.
  • Advocacy/Support: Representing the interests of UK-based staff and families, addressing concerns with Embassy management and HQ, and serving as a liaison between the Embassy and affiliated associations.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Fluency in English (both oral and written, C1 level or above under the CEFR*);
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in customer service role;
  • Familiarity with living in Sweden (e.g., banking, transportation);
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Understanding of challenges faced by staff living overseas;
  • Organizational and confidentiality skills;
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly.

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Some knowledge of Swedish.
