As a Business Controller the main responsibility is to monitor and drive the financial performance of Arelion by providing high-quality business insights and support to improve strategic decision-making by acting as a trusted advisor to the business. This involves forecast, budget, variance analysis, management reporting as well as ad-hoc activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Owns the business partnering relationship for their respective area of the business, supporting decision-making, planning, and performance management through evaluation of financial impacts, opportunities, risks, etc..
  • Manage reporting & planning cycles, including plan, budget, estimates & monthly reporting and analysis, working together with the business.
  • Provides valuable insights on business performance for their respective business unit through accurate reporting and analysis, ensuring alignment with the overall Arelion strategy.
  • Monitors and evaluates performance through analysis, KPIs, and other indicators, provides insightful financial analysis throughout the year, supports ad-hoc, business cases or transversal projects.
  • Interacting and coordinating with stakeholders, preparing presentations, and materials for budget presentations.
  • Involvement in digital transformation projects and ongoing improvement initiatives, utilize financial software and tools for analysis and reporting.

Areas of Expertise:

  • Monitor and drive local financial business performance: Evaluate and identify business opportunities or issues, identify financial risks, develop business cases, and follow up on performance.
  • Provide accurate reporting & analytics: Deliver profitability analysis and valuable insights to support decision-making.
  • Forecasting and Budgeting: Experience in developing accurate financial forecasts and budgets aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Variance Analysis: Skill in analyzing and explaining variances between actual and budgeted financial performance
  • Understand the cost drivers of the business and identify levers that can drive local value creation. Propose improvements and mitigating actions for ongoing operations and projects.
  • Analyze, comment and prepare the reports for the business, for Management meetings, projects follow up, capex, etc..
  • Drive the continuous development of internal reporting based on business needs (e.g. standard reports, data structure, etc.).
  • Financial Modeling: Proficiency in building and maintaining financial models to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Business Intelligence Tools: Familiarity with BI tools and software to extract, transform, and visualize financial data for reporting and analysis purposes.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Compliance and Governance: Understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements relevant to FP&A activities, ensuring adherence to internal policies and external standards.

Experience: 5+ years

Education BSc or MSc degree in Economics, Finance or a related field

IT/technology level: Knowledge of planning, consolidation and budget tools, as well as BI/reporting tools and advanced excel skills
