Metso is looking for a confident, capable and influential Safety Leader to take ownership of HSE at our Karratha Service Centre. This is a permanent, full-time position and requires a local Karratha resident.

In this hands-on, operationally driven position, you'll take the lead in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations across the Karratha Service Centre. You'll spend your time building trust with supervisors, trades, and technicians while driving meaningful improvements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the implementation and continual improvement of Metso's HSE Management System
• Championing risk management processes and monitoring compliance across the site
• Conducting inspections and leading audit activities
• Challenging behaviours and influencing safe decision-making at all levels
• Driving a strong and positive safety culture through proactive engagement
• Supporting injury management and return-to-work processes
• Upholding professional, ethical, and legal standards across all safety activity
• Monitoring and evaluating HSE performance to drive ongoing improvement
• Operating as an integral member of both the Metso QEHS team and the local Service Centre team

About You

You're a confident, proactive safety professional who knows how to hold your ground, influence change, and lead with credibility. You understand operational environments and you're not afraid to have the tough conversations that drive safer outcomes.

You will also bring:

• Strong experience in safety roles within mining, manufacturing, or heavy industry
• A practical understanding of WHS legislation and HSE Management Systems
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, guide, and lead
• Proven experience in incident investigation and improvement initiatives
• Auditing experience with a focus on practical risk control
• Injury management and return-to-work capability
• Experience developing and delivering safety training
• The ability to develop safe work procedures and risk assessments
• Certificate IV in WHS (desirable but not essential)
• Must be a current Karratha resident
