About the role
We're looking for a technically skilled and forward-thinking Product Owner to help shape the future of our next-generation heat pump systems. We're a fast-growing team on a mission to redefine how heating and cooling fit into sustainable & smart living. As our Product Owner for Heat Pump Systems, you'll take the lead in driving the development of our core heat pump modules and their integration into modern HVAC and smart home environments. But you'll also be a builder of something bigger — helping us design the processes, workflows, and culture that will define how we grow and lead together. You'll serve as the voice of the product within the development teams, translating strategic goals into clear, actionable user stories and maintaining a focused, prioritized backlog. Your work will directly impact the user experience, profitability, reliability, and regulatory readiness of Qvantum (residential and commercial) heat pump energy systems — and shape how we bring innovation to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and write product specifications of Qvantum's heat pump based energy systems.
- Together with Product Manager, prioritize and manage the product backlog, defining clear user stories, technical requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Oversee R&D development, including prototype development, lab testing, factory audits, and field tests to validate performance, reliability, and user experience.
- Together with Certification and Sustainability Manager, ensure that heat pumps meet all necessary certifications, environmental regulations, and energy efficiency standards (e.g., ErP, EHPA, UL, CE).
- Oversee and approve relevant documentation (technical manuals) enclosed with main products.
- Gather feedback from customers, installers, and service teams to continuously improve heat pump functionality and usability.
- Ensure seamless integration with heat pump systems, HVAC components, smart home ecosystems, and energy management platforms.
- Track key metrics for user experience, durability, connectivity, and profitability to refine the module/product design and features.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field (Master's degree preferred)
- 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Technical Product Manager, ideally within the HVAC- or heat pump industries.
- Deep understanding of heat pump systems, thermodynamics, and HVAC architectures, with the ability to make technically informed decisions.
- Hands-on experience with heat pump development, system design, or component integration
- Familiarity with product certification processes and regulatory compliance (ErP, EHPA, CE, UL, etc.)
- Familiarity with integrating hardware and software components in complex environments involving IoT, control systems, and third-party platforms.
- Proficient in agile methodologies, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and working closely with cross-disciplinary development teams.
- Strong communication skills to translate complex requirements between business, technical, and compliance stakeholders in English, both written and oral.
To thrive in the role, we believe that you appreciate the scale-up phase we are in, where learning and flexibility is needed in combination with a strong drive to build systematic ways of working and implement new tools and methods. We believe you have a strength in following through, attention to details and are driven by creating results. You have a long-term perspective and value both working independently with your team and collaborating with colleagues across different functions and across Europe.
