We lead with our hearts, take responsibility, and strive to fulfill our promises while continuously seeking smarter and better ways to work. If you share these values, we think you'll be happy with us
As a world leader in several specialty chemicals sectors, Perstorp offers extensive opportunities for involvement in international projects. Our new owner, PCG (Petronas Chemical Group), provides a stable foundation with a long-term vision, ensuring sustained growth and development.
If you share our values and are ready to make a significant impact, we believe you will thrive at Perstorp. Join us and be part of a team that is dedicated to customer focus, excellence and innovation.
Are you ready to take the next step in your career and grow into a role where you help shape the future of technical product development? Do you enjoy combining your curiosity and technical knowledge to explore new applications and contribute to innovative solutions?
We're now looking for a driven and hands-on team member to join us as Application Development Engineer – Engineered Fluids, with main focus on liquid-cooling applications for data centers and other advanced electronic systems. This is a technical development role — focused on application innovation and performance. In this role, you'll be part of identifying opportunities, testing ideas, and supporting development work — while learning and evolving with us.
About the positionThis is an exciting opportunity to join our team at a pivotal moment, and to play a meaningful role in our ambitious growth journey within the Engineered Fluids segment.
We are looking for a technically curious and motivated team member with a strong foundation in chemical or application development — and a drive to grow into a broader, cross-functional role. You will join the Application team in Engineered Fluids, working closely with experienced colleagues to help identify and develop the next generation of Perstorp products.
In this role, you will support the exploration and development of new opportunities to strengthen our product and service offerings. You'll contribute to both field-initiated ideas and internal innovation, and be part of evaluating technical feasibility and potential. Your daily work will involve supporting lab-based testing, analyzing results, and helping translate technical findings into customer-relevant solutions. Additionally, you will work with thermal management and thermal design aspects relevant for liquid‑cooling applications.
You'll work closely with colleagues from business development, laboratories, IP, regulatory affairs, and more — collaboration and communication are key for success.
What will you doDesign, develop, and optimize liquid cooling solutions (direct-to-chip and immersion) by translating customer needs into targeted development projects, contributing technical insights, and expanding our strategic product and service offerings — all in close collaboration with senior team members to deliver high-impact, application-driven innovations.
Analyze lab results and contribute to identifying customer-relevant applications, including feasibility testing and early-stage business idea development
Build and share expertise in relevant markets, keep up to date with regulatory changes and understand specific requirements for various lubricant / engineered‑fluid applications
Gain and build knowledge about Perstorp's unique products and chemistry and how that bring value to customers
Engage with industry bodies and contribute to the development of new standards and technologies
Manage technical projects and work packages according to agreed time lines and objectives
You're a technically curious and hands-on person who's ready to grow into a broader role. You bring solid technical foundation — likely from working a few years in an industrial, application-focused environment — and now you're ready to take more responsibility, shape your own path, and contribute to the development of new solutions and applications.
You don't need to have all the answers yet — but you enjoy exploring them. You're comfortable with ambiguity and motivated by learning, discovery and collaborative problem-solving. You thrive in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, and you're excited by the opportunity to influence how this role evolves.
You enjoy working across teams and perspectives and you value structure just as much as creativity.
Education and experiences required:
An academic degree (Master's preferred) chemical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, product development or similar relevant field
PhD is considered a merit, especially with experience in literature reviews and developing experimental test setups.
A few years of experience working in an industrial or application development setting — preferably with base oils, additives, finished lubricants or other engineered fluids; experience with thermal management, heat transfer, or cooling systems is strongly desired
Solid understanding of chemistry and thermodynamics, with the ability to apply these in engineering contexts.
Good knowledge of and exposure to (or interest in) areas like base oils, additives, lubricants, or other engineered fluids is a big plus
A responsible and proactive mindset — you take initiative and follow through
Strong communication skills and a collaborative way of working
Join our team as Application Development Engineer – Engineered Fluids and drive our growth in the Engineered Fluids segment.
