Digital Physical Chief Designer — Interior

Technicon Design Sweden have a new exciting opportunity for a Digi Physical Chief Designer who will be responsible for leading the creative vision and technical execution of the Clients next-generation interiors details. This role encompasses the design of tactile surfaces, spatial flows, and interactive elements that define comfort and user engagement. The incumbent will ensure that each interior element delivers an intelligent, logical, and emotionally resonant experience.

This position requires guiding projects from conceptual sketches and experience definition through to production surfacing and final realization. The Chief Designer will serve as the bridge between creative direction, innovation, and sensory design, ensuring that all interior components reflect the clients design-driven DNA.

Key Responsibilities Creative Leadership

  • Provide strategic and creative direction to a multidisciplinary team comprising interior designers, component specialists, and user experience designers.
  • Inspire the team to deliver meaningful, immersive, and user-centered design solutions.

Experience-Driven Design Development

  • Lead the end-to-end design process, from conceptual storytelling and digital modeling (Alias, Blender, clay) to A-Class surfacing and production.
  • Maintain the emotional and sensory integrity of designs throughout all stages of realization.

Brand DNA in Spatial Experience

  • Translate the clients design philosophy into tactile, visual, and interactive components that are intuitive, human-centric, and distinctly aligned with the brand.
  • Develop interiors that embody warmth, intelligence, and progressive simplicity.

Innovation & Craft

  • Champion the use of innovative materials and sustainable fabrication methods that enhance the sensory quality of interiors.

Physical-Digital Integration

  • Collaborate with UX and HMI teams to seamlessly integrate digital interactions into the physical architecture of the interior.
  • Ensure interfaces are intuitive, human-scale, and enhance overall user comfort and engagement.

Craftsmanship & Production Collaboration

  • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to preserve the integrity of form, material authenticity, and tactile quality through industrialization.
  • Ensure each component retains its intended emotional and experiential impact.

Prototyping & Validation

  • Oversee prototype development and testing to refine tactile, auditory, and ergonomic performance.
  • Ensure a cohesive and high-quality interior experience through iterative design validation.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as a design ambassador across all disciplines, including CMF, digital, UX, engineering, and manufacturing.
  • Unite teams around a shared vision of human-centered interior design.

Qualifications And Skills Required For The Role

  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience in automotive interior or component design.
  • Proven track record within an Automotive OEM environment, demonstrating user-centered, production-ready design and team leadership.
  • Experience with both physical & digital design

Personal

  • Exceptional ability to communicate spatial and emotional concepts through sketches and visualization.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and visualization software (Alias, Blender, Photoshop, VRED).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ergonomics, material tactility, and sensory design principles.
  • Experience leading design programs that integrate craftsmanship, sustainability, and innovation.
  • Strong verbal and visual communication skills in English.
