WHO WE ARE
Let Our Journeys Enrich Life
Carry essentials exist to make movement a worry-free experience, allowing us to focus on the bigger picture of our journeys. Today's industry brands are exhibiting a growing disconnection from the deeper purpose of movement, seen in standard-fare products that neither challenge norms nor present new solutions that facilitate better mobility.
LOJEL is about refocusing on how people move, but more importantly, why: connection. Putting the purpose of our journeys at the forefront of the discussion opens up opportunities for innovation. This process of discovery is what lets us empower people to move better and focus on what truly matters.
LOJEL is an international carry essentials brand—founded in Japan in 1989, currently headquartered in Hong Kong with teams in North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific—and is sold in 15 territories across the globe. We are Intentional By Design, Driven By Diversity, and Purposely Positive—core values upholding our vision to empower life's journeys with innovative, sustainable carry essentials that offer transformative experiences, inspiring mindful travel and connections worldwide.
SUSTAINABILITY AT LOJEL
At LOJEL, we're committed to driving positive change. We recognize the challenges our world faces, particularly with the looming climate crisis. The future is uncertain, and as a forward-thinking brand, we're dedicated to taking action.
Sustainability is at the core of our mission. By 2026, we aim to achieve B Corp certification, becoming climate neutral, and ensuring that 50% of our products are crafted from recycled or sustainable materials. To achieve these goals, we're building a team that's ready to take on this challenge head-on. Join us in making a meaningful impact on our planet while embracing a rewarding career at LOJEL.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an E-Commerce Manager to enhance LOJEL's E-Commerce expansion in the Japanese market. In this role, you will manage and develop LOJEL's E-Commerce site in Japan. You will adapt global branding strategies to resonate with local audiences and manage the regional budget effectively. Collaborating closely with our headquarters, you will ensure that initiatives align with both global objectives and local E-Commerce audience needs.
The E-Commerce Manager will lead and manage all e-commerce operations for LOJEL Japan while partnering closely with HQ to localize and optimize the brand's digital presence. This role combines tactical e-commerce management with strategic digital development. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of Japan's e-commerce and digital marketing landscape and is excited to shape the local customer experience in collaboration with a global team.
This role will report to the General Manager of Japan and will be based in our Yokohama office. You will also have a dotted reporting line to the global departmental manager at HQ in Hong Kong. Candidates who are comfortable with English are preferred.
E-Commerce Operations
- Manage Rakuten and other domestic platforms: product listings, promotions, campaign execution, and performance tracking.
- Coordinate product launches, merchandising calendars, and marketing pushes with HQ, adapting for local execution.
- Report weekly e-commerce performance to HQ and prepare monthly summaries for internal and accounting use.
- Maintain e-commerce platform integrations and data accuracy to ensure smooth purchase experiences and internal reporting.
- Troubleshoot local e-commerce issues (e.g., payments, order tracking, customer flow) and work with third-party providers or HQ to resolve them.
Web & E-Commerce Optimization
- Act as the local Japan representative to HQ's Digital team for all web/e-commerce development matters.
- Research Japan's e-commerce user behavior, design trends, checkout flows, and mobile UX standards to establish best practices.
- Develop and present a Japan-focused e-commerce/web optimization plan to HQ with clear recommendations and rationale.
- Collaborate with HQ to adapt global web infrastructure, tools, and designs to suit Japan's unique digital expectations.
- Coordinate closely with internal SEO resources (e.g., Ms. Tomizu) to ensure Japan site content, structure, and performance are search-optimized.
- Own ongoing localization improvements to UX, site speed, language, content presentation, and mobile usability.
Growth Marketing
- Paid media: Oversee campaign planning, budget allocation, agency coordination, and performance analysis.
- Email/SMS marketing: Implement lifecycle and promotional campaigns with localized content and segmentation.
- Affiliate marketing: Build partnerships to drive traffic and conversions.
- Work cross-functionally with existing team members and HQ's Growth team to ensure channel alignment and maximize impact.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Japanese nationality or a valid work permit in Japan.
- 3–5+ years of e-commerce experience in Japan, with exposure to both operations and strategy.
- Proven success in managing Rakuten or similar platforms; Shopify or other DTC platform experience is a plus.
- Experience in the luxury consumer goods industry is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing tools and e-commerce trends in Japan.
- Experience collaborating with global teams on digital product localization or international site rollouts.
- Familiarity with tools such as GA4, GTM, Klaviyo, and e-commerce CMS platforms.
- Native-level Japanese; business-level English preferred.
- Highly organized, resourceful, and comfortable working across functions and time zones.
- Data- and insight-driven with the ability to turn analysis into actionable plans.
- Please send your resume in Japanese to clarify your Japanese skills.
