Blykalla is developing the next generation of nuclear technology with our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) based on innovative fuel, materials, and reactor designs. As Sweden's only SMR developer, we are on a mission to decarbonize industries and enable safe, scalable, and sustainable energy solutions. Our technology uses uranium nitride fuel and lead coolant, creating novel challenges and opportunities for the fuel cycle and supporting systems

As Plant Layout Engineer, you will take a central role in the facility design of Sealer-E, Blykalla's demonstration plant under construction in Oskarshamn. This full-scale test facility includes an electrically heated test reactor and associated systems. The role focuses on developing the integrated 3D plant model and designing overall facility structures, piping, and supports in close collaboration with mechanical, nuclear, and civil engineering teams.

Develop and maintain the integrated 3D plant model of the Sealer-E facility.

Design plant structures, piping systems, and mechanical supports in line with industrial standards.

Ensure optimal facility layout with regard to operations, maintenance, and safety.

Coordinate design work across disciplines and manage technical interfaces between systems.

Implement digital workflows, including MBSE, PLM, and digital twin development.

Collaborate with partners, sub-suppliers, and external stakeholders to secure integrated solutions.

Contribute to procurement processes and participate in design reviews.

You are an experienced engineer with a background in mechanical, civil, or plant engineering. You thrive in multidisciplinary projects and enjoy working at the intersection of design, technology, and innovation. With an entrepreneurial mindset suited for a fast-paced environment, you bring both leadership abilities and a passion for modern, model-based engineering approaches. You are systematic and thorough in your work, with strong problem-solving skills and technical creativity. In addition, you communicate effectively in international teams and feel at home in a startup setting.

Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Plant Engineering (or equivalent experience).

5+ years' experience in plant layout and 3D modeling for greenfield facilities, with a proven track record in complex industrial projects (energy, process industry, or nuclear).

Expert proficiency in 3D CAD and plant design tools (Aveva E3D, SmartPlant, PDMS or similar), including establishing modeling standards and procedures.

Strong knowledge of digital integration, MBSE workflows, and PLM systems for multidisciplinary design and data management.

Solid understanding of multidisciplinary integration (civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, I&C) and relevant industry standards.

Entrepreneurial mindset with leadership abilities and strong problem-solving skills

Excellent communication in English (Swedish is a plus).

Experience implementing digital engineering workflows and PLM systems.

Knowledge of MBSE methodologies and tools.

Previous experience with FOAK (first-of-a-kind) or prototype facility design.

Background in digital twin development and implementation.

Project management certifications (PMP, Prince2).
