Electronics & Electrical Systems Engineer

Stockholm, Stockholm, Sweden Rebaba Full time

About the Role

Rebaba builds circular battery systems from second-life EV batteries. Our products power buildings, industries, and charging sites while reducing costs and emissions. We design and assemble our systems in Sweden and combine hardware, embedded electronics, and control with a strong mission: democratising access to clean, affordable and modern energy for all.

We are now hiring an
Electronics & Electrical Systems Engineer

who wants to lead both the electronics and the electrical design that sit at the core of our technology.

You will design and build the circuit boards and electrical architecture that make our battery systems safe, robust, and manufacturable. Your work will span from microcontroller-level hardware to high-voltage interfaces, protection design, and EMC. This is a hands-on role where you own electronics and electrical design from concept, through schematics and layout, into lab testing and field deployment.

If you want to build technology that accelerates the energy transition and see your work deployed in the real world, we would love to hear from you.

What you will do

  • Design and iterate PCB hardware for our battery control units, including sensing, communication, power electronics interfaces, and protective circuits.
  • Work with microcontrollers at pin-level detail: GPIO mapping, CAN transceivers, communication interfaces, start/stop/reset, emergency stop, and diagnostic inputs.
  • Take responsibility for the overall electrical design of the system: from battery and inverter connections to distribution, protection, and grounding.
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics and wiring diagrams for both low-voltage and high-voltage parts of the system.
  • Design for EMC and safety: grounding strategies, filtering, clearances and creepages, segregation of HV and LV, and practical measures to reduce noise and interference.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure that layouts, clearances, cable routing, and enclosures support safe and maintainable installations.
  • Work closely with software and embedded engineers so that electronics and firmware are aligned, testable, and debuggable.
  • Support lab and field tests: bring-up, measurement campaigns, failure analysis, and design improvements based on real data.

Who you are

  • You have an exceptional track record of building things.
  • You are eager to learn.
  • You have designed real hardware and electrical systems before and understand what happens when theory meets the shop floor.
  • You are confident in PCB design and enjoy owning the full chain: schematic, layout, prototyping, testing, and iteration.
  • You think in terms of full electrical systems: currents, faults, fault paths, selectivity, cable sizing, earthing, and safety concepts.
  • You are comfortable around high-voltage DC and AC, and you treat it with both respect and engineering structure.
  • You enjoy being in the lab with real hardware: meters, scopes, loads, test rigs, and actual cabinets rather than just CAD models.
  • You like understanding failure modes and designing for robustness: EMC, transients, heat, vibration, and installer mistakes.
  • You are entrepreneurial: you have built things before, taken ownership, and are motivated by seeing your designs end up in real installations.
  • You want to help shape a product area and continuously develop it, not just execute tasks from a spec.

Bonus points

  • Experience with battery systems, BMS, or power electronics.
  • Knowledge of CE, UL, or IEC requirements for electronics and electrical systems.
  • Experience with high-voltage DC systems or EV battery modules.
  • Experience designing electronics for harsh environments.

What we offer

  • A central role in shaping both the electronics and the electrical architecture of our circular battery systems.
  • Ownership from day one, with direct influence on safety, reliability, and serviceability of our products.
  • A hardware-focused environment where your work is visible in real installations at customer sites.
  • A mission-driven team building sustainable energy technology in Sweden, with ambition to scale across markets.
