About the role

As Senior Cloud & Data Platform Architect, you shape and operate Qbtech's cloud and data platforms. The Platform Team drives security engineering, infrastructure quality, and reusable patterns that enable product and data teams to deliver quickly and safely. Your scope covers platform governance, runtime hosting, data engineering infrastructure, and internal integration platforms - including ownership of networking, deployment architecture, DNS, and identity and access management. You combine hands-on engineering with architectural leadership to design scalable, secure, and cost-efficient systems supporting AI/ML and analytics workloads. Success in this role comes from broad technical understanding, adaptability, and a drive to simplify and evolve Qbtech's platform. The role has a hybrid office set-up; at least 3 days in the office in Stockholm.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead the design and evolution of cloud governance, security frameworks, and best practices.

  • Develop and maintain reusable infrastructure modules, blueprints, and playbooks using Infrastructure as Code.

  • Architect AWS solutions for hosting, networking, data, and integration - serverless-first and well-architected by design.

  • Design and evolve Qbtech's data platform across ingestion, processing, and serving layers (e.g. Iceberg, Glue, Athena, Python and Java pipelines).

  • Ensure the platform supports scalable AI/ML and analytics workloads.

  • Build internal integration services using event-driven patterns.

  • Collaborate with engineering, data, and analytics teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

  • Promote cloud, data, and security best practices through documentation, reviews, and mentoring.

  • Participate in shared on-call responsibilities for core platform services.

Who are you?

We value depth in some areas and breadth across others - you don't need to master every technology listed, but you should be comfortable navigating most of them.

Cloud & Security

  • Strong experience with AWS core services for compute, networking, data, and identity management.

  • Ability to apply governance and security principles at scale.

Infrastructure & Architecture

  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code and automation (e.g. Terraform, CDK, or similar).

  • Experience with event-driven and serverless architectures.

  • Familiarity with monitoring, observability, and incident management practices.

  • Ability to design solutions that balance simplicity, scalability, and portability.

Data & Automation

  • Knowledge of data lake and ETL frameworks (e.g. Iceberg, Glue, Athena).

  • Proficiency in Python and Java for automation, data engineering, or AI workflows.

  • Understanding of modern data and AI/ML pipelines.

Professional skills

  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Adaptable and able to connect domains, guiding teams through change.

We are looking for someone who has

 Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • At least five years of relevant professional experience.

  • Proven background in cloud or data platform engineering and architecture roles.

  • Experience designing secure, scalable platforms for AI/ML and analytics solutions.

  • Fluent in English.
