We are looking for a skilled
Mechanical CAD Engineer
to join our team and support the development and delivery of advanced scientific instruments. If you enjoy hands-on engineering, detailed CAD work, and contributing to complex technical systems, this role is ideal for you.


What You Will Work On

  • Participate as an integral member of the
    Neutron Chopper
    work package and support instrument delivery across multiple phases.
  • Integrate partner-developed components into the
    master CATIA V6 CAD model
    and maintain configuration integrity.
  • Support system assembly, installation, and testing in laboratory and assembly hall environments.
  • Create, update, and maintain
    2D drawings and 3D models
    (conceptual, draft, detailed, manufacturing).
  • Produce 2D documentation from 3D models, generate 3D models from 2D input, and develop designs from requirement specs.
  • Manage CAD data within established
    CAD/PDM systems
    .
  • Prepare, review, and update
    technical documentation
    for design, manufacturing, and installation.
  • Provide on-site installation coordination and produce supporting 2D installation drawings.
  • Follow up on manufacturing, track progress, and perform engineering quality and acceptance inspections.
  • Review mechanical drawings to
    ISO standards
    , GPS tolerancing, and mechanical norms.
  • Clearly document and present engineering work, including reviewer responsibilities.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks independently to meet project deadlines and evolving needs.


What You Bring

  • Degree in
    Mechanical Engineering
    or a closely related field.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles; experience in
    additive/composite manufacturing
    is an asset.
  • 2+ years
    mechanical CAD design experience, including
    1+ year hands-on CATIA V6
    .
  • Experience in
    tooling design
    and epoxy-based coating applications.
  • Familiarity with design maturity processes, version control, and release workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of
    GD&T
    , production drawings, ISO/GPS standards.
  • Experience with
    installation and maintenance drawings
    for industrial environments.
  • Capability in technical documentation and configuration management.
  • Experience designing mechanical systems for specialized scientific or technical environments is advantageous.
  • Exposure to engineering areas such as
    radiation, vacuum, pressure, gas flow, magnetic fields, RF, high temperature, cryogenics, electrical/electronics
    is beneficial.
  • Experience supervising mechanical design or performing acceptance testing (optional).
  • Strong initiative, autonomy, problem-solving ability, and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English; additional European languages are a plus.
