Manager of Airborne Early Warning Design

Your Role

We are looking for a Manager of the
AEW Design Section
The business unit is responsible for flying radar systems such as the Global Eye.

The newly formed section AEW Design have three product focused design teams, with responsibility for mechanics and cabling design.

Product teams are: Team DOU, Team Composite and Team AEW Backend. Each team is lead by a Mechanical Team Leader.

The Section is a part of the department Mechanical & Structural Engineering. The department is design responsible for the GlobalEye radar mechanics including structural & thermal simulations and material & process engineering.

As Manager of AEW Design section, you will;

• Assume design responsibility for the flying radar mechanics
• Lead and coach a growing organization of about 19 employees
• To provide technical leadership throughout the design work
• Develop and grow your teams' future capabilities through competence development, recruitment, cooperation, sourcing and improved ways-of-working
• Develop co-operations with other parts of departments of Saab as well as with our external suppliers
• Promote creativity, new ideas, business thinking and team spirit
• Develop roadmaps and strategies for the AEW platforms
• Collaborate closely with other sections in the department for example Fighter & UAEW Design section
• Be an active part of the Mechanical & Structural Engineering Leadership Team in terms of strategy, budget work and roadmaps

You will also contribute to the overall development of Business Unit AEW as well as the Surveillance design and implementation organizations. In this role you will have the opportunity to set the detailed organization and recruit team leaders and new personnel into our new teams.

Cooperation with technical product management as well as external suppliers and other organizations within SAAB is also part of the daily work. This position offers great opportunities to travel nationally and/or internationally for both team work with colleagues, customer interactions and conferences.

You are available for international business travel and are fluent in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

We also assume you have:

• Appropriate professional or postgraduate qualification in technical discipline (e.g., M.Sc. in Engineering Physics, Applied Mechanics or Mechanical Engineering or similar)
• Leadership experience and /or experience as first line manager in the applicable technical area
• Skills to combine strategic thinking with operational actions
• Strong business understanding and customer focus
• Strong drive, creativity and ability to generate energy
• Experience, understanding and ability to work in an international environment
• Strong technical skills in mechanical and structural engineering

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations regarding security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
