Job Mission
:

In this role, you will drive all sourcing and procurement deliverables in new product development and engineering change projects, securing cost‑efficient, high‑quality and timely supply of key direct materials. You will work closely with R&D, project management, manufacturing and quality to involve suppliers early, optimise designs for manufacturability, and ensure that commercial and technical requirements are aligned throughout the product lifecycle. By working in a structured and data‑driven way, you will remove bottlenecks on the critical path, support category strategies and contribute to continuous cost, quality and efficiency improvements in the supply base.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive procurement deliverables in new product development projects and engineering change orders, including RFx/RFQ preparation, supplier evaluation and selection, negotiation and ERP set‑up.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, R&D, manufacturing and quality to align scope, timelines, technical requirements and commercial terms.
  • Monitor and manage critical‑path sourcing activities hands‑on, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks through negotiation, alternative sourcing and other practical problem‑solving.
  • Involve suppliers early together with R&D for key direct material categories (e.g. machined parts, rubber, plastics, electronics/PCBA) to secure design‑for‑manufacturability and cost‑efficient solutions.
  • Take ownership of procurement tasks in the project plan, including management of timelines, prototype purchases, timely supplier selection, tools, initial stock and master data readiness.
  • Work in a structured, data‑driven way: document decisions, follow up actions, communicate progress and use ERP/Excel reports to analyse costs, spend and supplier performance.
  • Manage the prototype order process and engineering change order process from a sourcing perspective, ensuring correct specifications, on‑time deliveries and proper documentation.
  • Support sourcing and category strategies in driving cost‑reduction, quality and efficiency improvements with existing suppliers.

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills; able to plan, prioritise and run several sourcing activities in parallel.
  • Technically interested and knowledgeable; enjoys close collaboration with R&D and suppliers to optimise designs, materials and manufacturing solutions.
  • Hands‑on and solution‑oriented, comfortable going into details, resolving bottlenecks and finding pragmatic ways forward.
  • Structured and organised, with good discipline in documenting decisions, following up actions and reporting progress to project teams and management.
  • Skilled negotiator with suppliers on price, terms, lead times and performance, balancing cost, risk and quality.
  • Analytical and comfortable working with cost breakdowns, TCO comparisons and spend analysis to support decisions.
  • Good user of ERP systems and MS Office (especially Excel); familiar with basic supplier performance and risk management concepts.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trustful relationships internally and with suppliers.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • 5+ years' experience in sourcing/procurement in an industrial or engineering environment, preferably with focus on projects and NPI/NPD.
  • Degree in engineering, economics or similar field, combining technical and commercial understanding.
  • Proven experience in running RFx/RFQ processes, supplier evaluations and commercial negotiations.
  • Experience working closely with R&D and operations in a project‑driven environment.
  • Experience from working with ERP systems and advanced use of Excel for analysis and reporting.
