Industrial Postdoc in Quantum Technology – Interfacing Microwaves and Optics

Location: Stockholm, Sweden (partly at Intermodulation Products AB & partly at KTH Royal Institute of Technology). Form of Employment: WACQT Industrial Postdoc.

Start Date: Flexible, early 2026

About the Role:

Intermodulation Products AB (IMP), in collaboration with KTH Royal Institute of Technology, is seeking a talented Industrial Postdoc. Funded by the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology (WACQT), this position offers a unique opportunity to apply academic research skills in a commercial setting.

You will be employed by IMP, a deep-tech company known for its advanced microwave quantum control platform,
Presto

. You will work in a dual environment, spending time at both the IMP office and the quantum optics laboratories at KTH.

The Project: Next-Generation CV Quantum Communication

The goal of this project is to interface digital microwave control electronics with frequency stabilized lasers to enable continuous-variable quantum key distribution (CV-QKD). We aim to demonstrate synchronized distribution of structured entanglement over optical fiber.

You will utilize IMP's direct digital synthesis (DDS) technology to synchronize optical carriers with digital clocks. You will focus on the physics and experimental details of complex experiments, interfacing with Presto's high-level Python application programming interface (API).

Your Supervisors

  • Academic Supervisor:

Asst. Prof. Vaishali Adya (KTH), a leader in stabilized laser sources, squeezed light, and quantum communication.
- Industry Supervisor:

Dr. Marina Kudra (IMP), an expert in microwave measurements and quantum engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments to interface microwave and optical quantum circuits.
  • Use our Python API to program the
    Presto

platform for pulse generation and data acquisition.
- Work on pilot/LO architecture and heterodyne detection of squeezing.
- Analyze data to verify entanglement and optimize system performance.
- Collaborate with the IMP team on daily operations to gain insight into the quantum industry.

Who You Are

  • Education:

PhD in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field (quantum optics, microwave engineering preferred).
- Technical skills:

Strong proficiency in
Python

is required. Experience with experimental quantum optics (squeezed light, homodyne/heterodyne detection) or microwave measurements is highly valued.
- Mindset:

You are interested in bridging the gap between academia and industry.
