Investment Banking Internship – Sustainable Finance and Bond Origination

Sustainable Finance and Bond Origination are two teams within Handelsbanken Debt Capital Markets (DCM), which is an integral part of the bank's investment bank. The DCM department comprises of around 40 experts who provide specialized financing solutions, primarily to corporate and real estate customers. Our product offering ranges from bilateral and syndicated loans to the arrangement of corporate bonds and commercial paper programs for our clients. Our capabilities in sustainable finance, debt structuring, and advisory services are essential in delivering comprehensive and tailored financing solutions to our customers.

We are currently looking for an off-cycle intern to support both the Sustainable Finance and Bond Origination teams in a combined internship at the Stockholm Office during the spring semester of 2026. Applicants should be available from mid-January 2026, and the internship is intended to cover a full semester, ending in June.

What We Offer
As an intern at Handelsbanken DCM Sustainable Finance and Bond Origination teams you will gain experience from different sustainable financing projects for clients across different sectors, working with products such as green bonds and green loans, as well as sustainability-linked bonds and sustainability-linked loans. You will support the Sustainable Finance team with company and market analysis, analyzing qualitative and quantitative sustainability information and preparing presentation material.

In the Bond Orgination team, your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting analyses of the bond market, preparing pitch materials, managing and developing databases, and supporting the execution of bond deals. You'll collaborate closely with our Bond Origination team and gain exposure to all stages of a bond transaction.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop a solid foundation for sustainable finance as well as for the bond market while working in teams that values initiative, precision, and analytical thinking.

What we expect from you:

• Skilled at managing priorities and achieving goals in fast-moving environments
• Highly motivated, adaptable, and able to multi-task and prioritize effectivly
• High level of attention to detail and time management
• Ability to collect, analyze and present relevant information on the bond market
• Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
• Genuine interest in sustainable finance and financial markets
• Previous knowledge of Bloomberg is an advantage but not a prerequisite
• Strong academic track record

We encourage students with different academic backgrounds to apply. You should have 1-2 semesters remaining until graduation from a three-year program, or 1-4 semesters remaining of a five-year program. Previous work experience in investment banking, other relevant organizations, or extra-curricular activities is an advantage.
