We are seeking two dedicated Postdoctoral researchers to become part of Professor Jovine's team at the Department of Biosciences and Nutrition. This department is located in a state-of-the-art biomedical research facility designed to foster creativity and collaboration across various scientific disciplines. Candidate Profile:
We are looking for candidates who fit one of the following profiles, or ideally possess expertise in both areas:
(1) A highly motivated postdoctoral researcher eager to identify and characterize essential protein-protein interactions involved in gamete recognition and fusion across evolutionary species. Candidates should have substantial hands-on experience in mammalian and/or insect cell expression, purification, and biochemical analysis of proteins. Proficiency in analyzing protein-protein interactions through various techniques is essential, and experience in developing monoclonal antibodies will be considered advantageous. Familiarity with X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM, as well as knowledge of deep learning-based protein structure prediction, is highly desirable but not mandatory.
(2) A highly motivated postdoctoral researcher interested in uncovering the molecular mechanisms of egg-sperm interaction during fertilization by integrating cryo-EM and X-ray crystallography with AI-driven protein structure predictions. Candidates should have significant experience in experimental and/or computational structural biology focused on protein-protein interactions, particularly in biological systems involving membrane proteins. Previous experience in biochemically identifying and characterizing protein complexes, along with mammalian and/or insect cell expression, is also highly desirable. A first-author publication in a reputable international peer-reviewed journal, fluency in English (both written and spoken), a collaborative spirit, and a strong drive for scientific excellence are required.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for the postdoctoral position, candidates must possess a doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This requirement must be fulfilled by the time of the employment decision. Candidates who have completed their doctoral degree within the last three years are preferred, although exceptions may apply under special circumstances.
