About the Role

Northvolt AB is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Director of Manufacturing Engineering to join our team in Västerås. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in building one of the first large-scale European battery factories.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a fast-growing team and be responsible for setting up and executing the long-term process strategy. You will oversee the overall engineering management related to industrial process engineering projects for Northvolt's advanced factories, including design and implementation of new technologies and specialized battery manufacturing equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage projects, timelines, budget, and track progress on projects focusing on manufacturing engineering.
  • Lead engineers and vendors to design and deliver industrial process equipment, achieving aggressive yield and rate targets against tight deadlines, optimizing factors such as Quality, Capacity/CAPEX, Cost of manufacturing, and OEE.
  • Secure engineering team growth and competence development, as well as long-term employee development and employee satisfaction.
  • Establish and secure compliance with standards and procedures.
  • Secure and enable cross-functional integration to relevant engineering teams to define interfaces for advanced real-time monitoring, production control, and optimization.
  • Define and contribute to process engineering Blueprint deliveries.
Requirements
  • Competences in industrial methodologies such as value stream analysis, lean manufacturing, FMEA, design to cost, etc.
  • At least 7 years of experience in managing engineers and large-scale projects in a multicultural environment.
  • Experience in the battery industry is valuable but not required.
  • Extensive project management experience in demanding industrial environments.
  • Experience in managing people in multi-cultural environments.
  • Technical experience in developing manufacturing processes for industrial manufacturing equipment.
