The Role

This role involves overseeing the planning and forecasting processes, management reporting, business performance review process, and development and governance of key financial systems. You'll be responsible for ownership of the finance management framework from a Group Business Control perspective, leading the budgeting process and quarterly reviews, forecasting, long-term financial planning, analyzing performance trends, and providing insights to guide executive decision-making.

You'll also be involved in coordination and consolidation of the local markets business performance, leading strategic initiatives and developing robust business cases. Additionally, you'll be responsible for speaking partner to business controllers and Legal entity controllers regarding e.g. CFM, forecasting process, and reporting process related matters.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ownership of the finance management framework from a Group Business Control perspective, leading the budgeting process and quarterly reviews, forecasting, long-term financial planning, analyzing performance trends, and providing insights to guide executive decision-making.
  • Coordination and consolidation of the local markets business performance, leading strategic initiatives and developing robust business cases.
  • Speaking partner to business controllers and Legal entity controllers regarding e.g. CFM, forecasting process, and reporting process related matters.
  • Responsible and accountable for all aspects of efficient cash and debt management.
  • Collaboration with leadership to develop and implement strategies, evaluate investment opportunities, and drive initiatives to enhance profitability and efficiency.
  • Monitoring and controlling expenses, developing cost control measures, overseeing profitability analysis, and conducting variance analysis to optimize cost structures and address discrepancies.
  • Designing and managing KPIs and metrics, overseeing financial reporting and presentations for senior management, and ensuring compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulations.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to the CEO, CFO, and other key executives, providing financial insights and risk assessments for strategic initiatives, and fostering cross-functional collaboration to align financial objectives with business goals.
  • Supporting investor relations efforts by contributing to earnings reports and financial communications.
  • Leading and developing finance teams, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and financial accountability, and mentoring finance professionals to foster growth and development.
  • Optimizing financial processes and systems, implementing technologies to enhance reporting and analysis, and driving automation and digitization of financial workflows for greater efficiency.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need to have:

  • +10 years progressive professional experience from Finance/Controller positions preferably in the media industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in a listed company is a must.
  • Academic degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
  • Proven track record in strategic financial planning, forecasting, and cost management.
  • Expertise in financial planning & analysis (FP&A), budgeting, and variance analysis with strong understanding of accounting principles, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
  • Proficiency in financial management systems and ERP tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle); and advanced analytical and data modelling skills using tools like Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights, evaluate investment opportunities, align financial strategies with business goals, and solve problems with a focus on driving profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Strong executive presence with excellent communication and presentation skills to convey financial insights.
  • High integrity and ethical standards in managing financial operations, and adaptability with proactive decision-making in dynamic business environments.
  • Robust leadership skills with the ability to lead and develop high-performing finance teams, drive change, promote process improvements, foster a culture of financial discipline, and collaborate cross-functionally at the executive level.
  • Self-motivated with ability to develop new ways of doing things (improve processes, reporting etc).
