We are seeking a talented engineering student to join our team at NIRA Dynamics and contribute to the development of innovative solutions for road surface information. As a Master's Thesis student, you will work on a project that focuses on creating a map of road segments identifying whether they are in shade or sunlight, using data collected from a fleet of vehicles and solar irradiance readings.

This project is critical for understanding sunlight exposure patterns and will be used as an input to model road surface temperature. By accurately mapping which road segments are in shade and which are exposed to direct sunlight, we can make more precise road temperature predictions, ultimately improving road safety and comfort.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a map of road segments identifying shade and sunlight exposure
  • Collect and process data from a fleet of vehicles and solar irradiance readings
  • Collaborate with our team to integrate the map into our Winter Road Insights (WRI) cloud service

Requirements:

  • Master's program in engineering with a specialization in Y, D, M, F or equivalent
  • Knowledge in Python programming, AWS Cloud Services, Machine Learning, Data Processing and Analysis, Statistical Modeling, or Software Development
  • Strong academic record, driven, and able to work independently
