The ideal candidate will have knowledge of computer architecture and compiler construction, with a strong focus on quality and ability to program and debug complex algorithms. Experience with virtual machine development, multi-platform support including ARM64, and expertise in compiler development are highly desired.

This is a key opportunity for a motivated individual to participate in the development of optimizing compiler technology for Oracle's Java HotSpot Virtual Machine. The successful candidate will work on exciting and meaningful projects in different phases of JVM bytecode compilation, collaborating with teammates within Oracle and the OpenJDK community to improve the functionality, quality, and performance of current and future compiler technologies.

A salary in the range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year is offered, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive compensation package, benefits include health insurance, retirement plan, and opportunities for professional growth and development.

In this challenging and rewarding role, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining the JIT compilers for the Java Virtual Machine;
  • Collaborating with the Java development organization to ensure high-performance solutions on all supported platforms;
  • Staying up-to-date on current and future hardware features and incorporating them into the compiler technology;
  • Maintaining software engineering practices, including code reviews, coding standards, source control management, build processes, testing, and continuous integration.

To be considered for this position, you should have a BS/MS degree in CS, EE, or equivalent, and 4+ years of software development experience. Good problem-solving skills, good communication and presentation skills in English, experience with modern IDEs and version control (Git), proficiency with C++, assembly language, and Java programming, and understanding of the Java Virtual Machine Specification are also required.
