At Essity, we are seeking a Technology Area Manager to lead our Papermaking Projects. This role is crucial in ensuring the best value of our papermaking investments and identifying business opportunities within papermaking technology.

As a Technology Area Manager, you will be responsible for managing technology solutions in your assigned area and projects around Europe. You will work closely with manufacturing sites, product and material developers, and the papermaking technology team to deliver robust and cost-efficient process and equipment solutions.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in the Paper Industry as a Process engineer or Project manager or similar roles. A University degree in chemical, mechanical, or papermaking engineering is preferred. You will possess commercial and financial knowledge to support CAPEX review processes, strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills, and demonstrated sound judgment, strong business acumen, and analytical skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering technology directions for best-in-class projects that meet strict safety, quality, financial, and scheduling requirements.
  • Assisting throughout the project lifecycle: scope definition, process review, bidding, technology choices, negotiations, Capex approval, technical risk assessment, design reviews, and commissioning.
  • Ensuring regular adjustments align with business strategy and maintain vendor qualification.
  • Providing input for Capex requests and being accountable for the entire papermaking technology scope, including equipment, installation, and startup support.
  • Conducting feasibility studies and developing, implementing, and improving technology standards.
  • Securing manufacturability aspects in developments, resulting in cost-efficient investments and reduced manufacturing complexity.
  • Identifying, mitigating, and eliminating risks during project phases.
  • Managing IP rights between Essity and machine suppliers to secure freedom to operate.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time to support project implementation around Europe.
