Job Opportunity

Göteborgs Universitet is seeking a highly motivated researcher to work on a project titled "Adaptive Algorithms for Inverse Problems with Applications in Medical Imaging". The project aims to develop new adaptive non-local numerical methods for solving multidimensional coefficient inverse problems and inverse source problems in hyperbolic and parabolic PDEs.

The main challenges of this project include developing Carleman estimates to prove global uniqueness of reconstructed parameters in MCIPs and sources in ISP. This research will contribute significantly to the field of computational mathematics and has potential applications in medical imaging.

To be eligible for this position, applicants must have a strong background in mathematics, applied mathematics, or mathematical statistics. A master's degree or a 4-year bachelor's degree in one of these fields or expect to complete such a degree prior to the start of the employment is required.

Good presentation and communication skills in oral and written English are essential. Experience in partial differential equations, numerical analysis, computational methods for partial differential equations, and programming may be beneficial.

Applicants are expected to submit a detailed curriculum vitae, electronic copies of their master and bachelor transcripts, and copies of their bachelor's and master's thesis if available. Two reference persons must also be provided.

About the Position

This is a fixed-term position limited to a maximum of five years, four years of studies, and up to one year of departmental work distributed during the whole employment period.

The employment offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and international environment with frequent exchanges with other universities around the world. The department provides a friendly, creative, and supportive atmosphere with a steady flow of international guests.
