  • You will be working in a dynamic and inspiring environment.
  • Your starting salary will be 34,550 SEK per month.
Research Project Overview

We are offering a Ph.D. position in integrable systems—a unique class of dynamical systems known for their symmetry-rich structures and predictable behavior.

  • Integrable systems are described by differential or difference equations or by iterative maps.

Some examples include:

  • The Kepler problem
  • Nonlinear wave equations (e.g., Korteweg-de Vries and Sine-Gordon)
  • Spinning tops studied by Euler, Lagrange, and Kovalevskaya
  • The 1- and 2-dimensional Ising model
Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Ph.D. student, you will immerse yourself in an international and collaborative research environment.

  • You will conduct autonomous research in integrable systems.
  • Develop original ideas and contribute to the field through publications and presentations.
  • Engage in departmental duties, including teaching (approximately 20% of your time).
Who We Are Looking For

We encourage applicants from all backgrounds and experiences who are passionate about mathematics and research.

  • You should have a solid foundation in mathematics, reflected in strong course grades and undergraduate thesis work.
  • You must have a master's degree (or equivalent 4-year bachelor's degree) in mathematics or a related field by the start of your employment.
  • You should have effective communication skills in English, both written and oral.
