Thesis Project in Vattenfall R&D

The purpose of Vattenfall is to power climate smarter living. We are seeking a talented student to contribute to this goal by working on a thesis project in our R&D department. This project focuses on innovative chute roughness solutions for enhanced energy dissipation in spillways. The student will work with experimental data, CFD modeling, and ANSYS FLUENT to evaluate the hydraulic performance of different roughness arrangements.

This project is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to the development of sustainable solutions for the future. You will work closely with our team to design, implement, and analyze the CFD models, and present your findings in a comprehensive report.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement CFD models using ANSYS FLUENT
  • Analyze the results and draw conclusions on the effectiveness of different roughness arrangements
  • Present the findings in a clear and concise report

Requirements:

  • University education in civil (hydraulic) engineering, engineering physics, or similar disciplines
  • Strong interests in hydropower, dam safety, and hydraulic engineering
  • Good command of written English
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
