We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team at Academic Positions in a research project focused on understanding and improving ice properties for sports and sustainability.
Research Objectives- To investigate the effects of stadium conditions on ice properties and develop a practical setup to simulate various conditions.
- To study the properties of ice, including hardness, friction, and gliding resistance, using a combination of experimental and analytical techniques.
- To compare and investigate stadium ice and experimentally made ice from the simulation setup in the Wetsus laboratory.
- Design and develop a practical setup to simulate various stadium conditions.
- Investigate the properties of ice using experimental and analytical techniques.

- Collaborate with the supervisory team and ice-masters to ensure the practical relevance of the research project.
- MSc degree in Physics, Engineering, or Physical Chemistry.
- Good understanding and knowledge of natural sciences.
- Innovative and multi-disciplinary attitude.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Ability to work in multi-disciplinary and international teams.
- Experience with laboratory and analytical work in both physics and (wet-)chemistry.
