Job Description
This doctoral position offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge research in digital transformation and systems integration for smart ports. The successful candidate will be part of the Division of Physical Resource Theory, where we carry out research and education on potential solutions to our major environmental challenges, such as global warming and sustainable use of land and other resources.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team and contribute to the development of innovative solutions for integrating digital and energy systems in port hubs. The research will focus on developing a multi-layer modeling architecture integrating AADL for structural analysis and Modelica/FMI for dynamic simulation. Additionally, the candidate will design and implement resilience metrics and assessment methodologies for smart port energy systems.
The expected contributions include a novel multi-model framework for port energy systems, extended resilience assessment methodology, and integration patterns for AADL and Modelica. The role also involves tool suite development for port energy system analysis, validated assessment methods, and industry-ready implementation guidelines.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have a Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Systems Engineering or Computer Science, with a strong background in modeling and simulation of complex systems. Solid academic grounding in digital transformation, systems integration, or energy-efficient digitalization is also essential. Additional coursework or thesis work related to System of Systems (SoS) integration, experience with risk-based analytical modeling and implementation algorithms, and knowledge of energy systems and their digitalization are considered meritorious qualifications.
You should have proficiency in modeling and simulation of complex systems, expertise in software development for system integration and analysis, knowledge of digital transformation methodologies and tools, and familiarity with energy-efficient digitalization practices. Proven ability to conduct independent research and synthesize large datasets into actionable insights, strong academic writing skills for producing reports and publications, and fluency in English (written and spoken) for research dissemination and collaboration are also required. Experience in engaging with industry partners and stakeholders, and ability to produce guidelines for managing the complexity of SoS are considered meritorious skills.
