Lead Safety Assurance Engineer

Req ID: 462184
At Alstom, we comprehend the intricacies of transport networks and the dynamics of mobility. Our extensive portfolio encompasses high-speed trains, metros, monorails, trams, as well as comprehensive systems, services, infrastructure, signalling, and digital mobility solutions. Each day, our 80,000 dedicated colleagues strive towards greener and smarter mobility globally, connecting urban areas while minimizing carbon footprints and reducing reliance on automobiles.
Your future role
Embrace a new opportunity to leverage your expertise while collaborating with enthusiastic, driven, and committed colleagues.
In this role, you will oversee, execute, and ensure safety-related activities throughout the lifecycle of our products and subsystems, delivering secure solutions. Your daily responsibilities will involve close collaboration with various teams across the organization and certified specialists in different technical fields. You will coordinate all safety assurance activities associated with the project, system, or product, adhering to the safety processes outlined in the Signalling Safety Instructions. Your duties will include conducting product safety evaluations, managing the Hazard Log, reviewing Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM), Cybersecurity, and validation activities from a safety standpoint, among other tasks.
You will specifically focus on defining the safety plan and managing safety workloads along with associated timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting assessments and implementing safety assurance methodologies (risk acceptance criteria, safety analysis, verification, and validation) established for the project/system/product.
- Providing estimates for costs and schedules.
- Generating necessary documentation.
- Sharing your expertise with colleagues and various departments.
About You:
We prioritize enthusiasm and attitude over extensive experience. While we do not expect you to possess every skill, we have identified several that will aid your success and growth in this position:
- A degree in engineering or a strong passion for the field.
- Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and safety methodologies (CENELEC Standards for Safety or equivalent standards such as AREMA, IEEE).
- Practical experience in safety assurance, ideally within the railway sector or other safety-critical industries (automotive, medical, aerospace, etc.).
- Adaptability and proficiency in time and task management.
- A collaborative spirit and receptiveness to feedback.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A willingness to share knowledge.
- The ability to see the bigger picture and understand how this role contributes to our overall success.
What We Offer:
Engage in a transformative career journey – the rail industry is enduring, allowing you to develop new skills and experiences throughout your professional life. You will also:
- Experience stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from monotonous routines.
- Work with purpose, making a significant impact.
- Collaborate with diverse teams and supportive colleagues.
- Contribute to innovative projects.
- Benefit from a hybrid work environment.
- Direct your career in any direction you choose across various functions and countries.
- Take advantage of our commitment to your development through award-winning training programs.
- Enjoy a competitive and dynamic compensation package that recognizes your performance and potential, along with comprehensive social benefits (life, medical, pension).
- Become part of a dedicated safety team.
While a passion for trains is not a requirement for success with us, we assure you that stepping onto one of our trains with friends or family will instill a sense of pride. If you are ready for this challenge, we look forward to your application.
Important Note:
As a global organization, we are an equal-opportunity employer that values diversity across the 70+ countries in which we operate. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace for all.
