The University of Gothenburg's Proteomics Core Facility seeks a highly skilled expert in bioinformatics to join their team. As a Researcher, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of computer systems, software solutions, and data analysis pipelines for quantitative proteomics and characterization of protein glycosylations.

With access to advanced instrumentation and expertise in biological mass spectrometry, our facility supports researchers from Swedish and international institutions. We are looking for someone passionate about computer system development, data analysis, and interpretation, with experience in Unix/Linux operating systems, R/Matlab, and Python.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Explore, implement, and maintain new MS data software and application tools, writing program code for data analysis, integration, and visualization.
  • Contribute to local and global data management processes and solutions, including data sharing.
  • Provide high-quality bioinformatic research support and ensure optimal use of MS data.
  • Support the Proteomics Core Facility with ad-hoc analysis and pipelines.
  • Combine data between open-source and/or commercially available software platforms for data validation and sorting, writing scripts and programming as necessary.
  • Assist in quality control and statistics of the MS analysis.
  • Collaborate with researchers and team members in many aspects of data processing and handling.

Responsibilities may be distributed in the team according to competence and allocated resources.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • A PhD degree in computer science, bioinformatics, statistics, or relevant scientific omics subject.
  • Experience in Unix/Linux operating systems, R/Matlab, and an established general-purpose language (Python preferred).
  • Versatility in information technology.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in managing and analyzing large datasets.
  • Desired experience with High-Performance Computing platforms on-premises or in the cloud (AWS, GCP, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience in core competency areas: Mass-spectrometry based omics, multivariate and/or high-dimensional data analysis (-omics), data management, and visualization.
  • Previous experience working in a multidisciplinary environment is desirable.
