The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing the knowledge of PEM-based devices, focusing on factors that may limit their performance. This project offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of researchers and industry partners within the SESBC context.
Project Overview
The recruited postdoctoral researcher will investigate PEM-based fuel cells and electrolysers, with a focus on understanding degradation mechanisms and transport phenomena that limit device performance. The project will consider state-of-the-art PEM technologies and new materials concepts proposed by partners in the SESBC.
Division and Department Information
The project will be conducted at Chalmers, in close collaboration with a PhD student, and is part of a larger context within the SESBC. The postdoctoral researcher may also contribute to teaching activities to some extent.
Major Responsibilities
The postdoctoral candidate will analyze fuel cell/electrolyser components as-prepared and post-use, as well as in-situ, focusing on the chemical stability of the PEM, physical integrity of the MEA, and characteristic polarization curves. State-of-the-art fuel cell test stations and materials/components provided by partners will be used in the studies.
Qualifications
A PhD degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, or a related field, as well as excellent English language skills, are required. Key qualifications for this project include:
- Interest in using advanced experimental methods
- Fascination with fuel cell/electrolysis technology
- Skills in data analysis and ability to integrate high-quality data
- Dedication to writing scientific articles
- Ethical approach to research and collaboration
To qualify for the postdoctoral position, the candidate must hold a doctoral degree awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline, with exceptions possible for parental leave, sick leave, or military service.
