Job Title: System Administrator, IT

Umeå University is seeking a highly skilled System Administrator, IT to join our bioinformatics support unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining our local computing infrastructure and providing support to bioinformatic researchers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and optimize our Linux-based environment, including server hardware and software.
  • Deploy and manage containers using Docker and Singularity.
  • Manage our RStudio Server Pro environment, ensuring seamless integration with our queueing system.
  • Oversee storage management, including HPE and Synology systems, to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
  • Document all installations, maintenance, and issues to ensure transparency and accountability.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with programming languages, such as Python and R.
  • Familiarity with RStudio environment and Synology's DSM.
  • Knowledge of version control systems, e.g., Git.
  • Understanding of OPEN and FAIR principles.
Employment Conditions:

The position is full-time and permanent, with a starting date of September 2, 2024. A probationary period of up to 6 months may be applied.
