Job Overview:

The Senior HSES Specialist will utilize industry best practices to tackle complex problems related to health, safety, and environmental sustainability. This individual will apply in-depth knowledge of the discipline to enhance overall performance. They will operate with a considerable degree of autonomy, balancing field-based responsibilities with administrative duties. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a dynamic environment and will serve as a resource for colleagues, sharing expertise in HSES.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an effective HSES management system, considering company, client, and regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a culture of risk-based HSES within the organization.
  • Create and maintain HSES plans, procedures, and instructions aligned with contractual and legislative needs.
  • Participate in risk assessments and ensure up-to-date risk registries.
  • Establish and schedule HSES activities, including inspections, audits, and emergency response planning.
  • Maintain the effectiveness of project HSES management plans.
  • Conduct internal and external HSES audits, preparing and scheduling them as needed.
  • Evaluate subcontractor/vendor HSES qualifications and bids.
  • Collaborate with project teams and subcontractors on hazard control interventions.
  • Review client HSES documentation and perform gap analysis when necessary.
  • Develop and manage relevant KPIs for the area of responsibility.
  • Analyze HSES statistics and identify trends.
  • Report trends promptly and create action plans for continuous improvement.
  • Engage in safety programs and other initiatives.
  • Plan, lead, and participate in HSES meetings.
  • Follow up on closeout and maintain HSES actions.
  • Ensure adequate resource allocation for HSES.
  • Pursue personal development and mentorship opportunities.
  • Lead incident investigations and prepare reports.
  • Interface with clients regarding HSES matters as needed.
  • Report incidents, near misses, property damage, and environmental incidents promptly.
  • Contribute to the production of HSES information, training, education, and awareness materials.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining Emergency Procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of safe working practices, quality, and productivity, ensuring compliance with the code of business conduct.
