Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement conservation strategies to ensure the long-term preservation of the collection.
  • Work closely with cross-departmental stakeholders to ensure the highest standards of conservation practice.
  • Collaborate with other museums to share knowledge and best practices in conservation.
  • Apply expertise and judgment to solve complex problems related to the display, storage, and handling of artifacts.

Requirements

  • A recognized professional conservation qualification at degree level or equivalent.
  • Experience working in the heritage sector, preferably in a museum or gallery setting.
  • Proven conservation skills and knowledge of mechanisms involved in material deterioration.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve set objectives.
  • Familiarity with conservation theory and best practices in display, loans, and storage activities.
