Biophysicist Position in Gamete Recognition

Karolinska Institutet is one of the world's leading medical universities, conducting successful medical research and offering a wide range of medical education. We are seeking a highly motivated Biophysicist to join our research group, working on the recognition and fusion of the female and male gametes.

The project involves combining molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, and structural biology to understand the molecular mechanism of egg-sperm interaction at fertilization. This requires significant hands-on experience in mammalian and/or insect cell expression, purification, and biochemical characterization of proteins.

To be eligible for this position, you should have a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed equivalent. Previous experience in X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM is highly desirable. At least one first-author paper in a high-quality international peer-reviewed journal is required.
