About Data Center OperationsData center operations is a critical function that ensures the smooth operation of AWS data centers. This team is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Safety: Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and encourage a culture of safety excellence. Ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams.
- Engineering & Facility Operations and Maintenance: Operational experience and familiarity with electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS's), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS's), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), and Transformers.
- Monitoring alarms and systems that manage power, cooling, and fire suppression in the data center.
- Coordinating vendor work on-site to ensure equipment is maintained and uptime is preserved.
- Supporting other teams and sites during events and planned works.
- Handling rack installations and powering up equipment.
- Monitoring and facilitating the handover of new equipment.
- Sharing knowledge and supporting new team members.
- Participating in event response drills.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline + Professional Certification in Electrical, Mechanical or Controls engineering.
- 1 to 4 years of knowledge of key electrical competencies and theory; generic mechanical room infrastructure such as chillers, cooler units, and fan controls; backup generator systems.
- Valid EU driving license.
