Postdoctoral Researcher in Thin Film Materials Science

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Division of Thin Film Physics, Fundamental Science of Thin Films group at Linköping University.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will conduct application-inspired basic research on thin film materials, focusing on developing new environmentally friendly surface coating processes with maintained layer quality, functionality, and reduced energy consumption.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research on thin film materials, including synthesis, characterization, and analysis
- Collaborate with a Swedish industrial company on the project
- Publish research findings in scientific journals and present at international conferences
- Teach and supervise students, up to 20% of working hours
- PhD degree in Material Science, preferably with a specialization in thin films
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of vacuum-based thin film synthesis by magnetron sputtering, preferably with ion-based variants
- Significant experience in material characterization, including XRD, SEM, TEM, and nanoindentation experiments
- Excellent analytical and writing skills, demonstrated by publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals
- Highly motivated, problem-solving skills, and teamwork ability
- Fluent communication in English (written and spoken)
The employment is a temporary contract of two years with the possibility of extension up to a total maximum of three years. The employment is full-time.
