Student Analyst in Market Insights at Nasdaq

Nasdaq's Economic & Statistical Research (ESR) team is seeking a Student Analyst to contribute to the Market Statistics division. The ESR team plays a crucial role in providing analytical support across all Nasdaq business units within the Nordic & Baltic regions. This is accomplished through the delivery of Business Intelligence dashboards, self-service analytics, regular reporting of statistics, and tailored ad-hoc analyses. Our outputs are designed to enhance decision-making processes, ultimately aiming to optimize trading, capital formation, and market structure.

The team comprises approximately a dozen professionals working across three key areas: Technology, Research, and Market Statistics. Our primary stakeholders include departments within Capital Market Listings, Equities, Derivatives, Fixed Income, and Commodities, along with senior management and corporate functions.

In this role, you will oversee and implement enhancements to our reporting systems and landscape, while providing quantitative analysis. You will utilize and manage our business intelligence and reporting tools, primarily SAP BusinessObjects and Microsoft Power BI, to prepare, visualize, and analyze data. Your responsibilities may also involve data extraction and quality assurance, where you will apply your SQL programming expertise.

This is a part-time opportunity that allows for flexibility in your schedule, ideally suited for candidates who can commit to a minimum of two days per week alongside their studies, with the potential for full-time work during the summer months.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant academic background in finance or engineering
  • Experience in reporting or business intelligence
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Strong attention to detail and capability to work with large datasets
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team
  • Genuine interest in finance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with capital markets and financial instruments
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or Redshift in AWS
  • Proficiency in programming or scripting languages beyond SQL
  • Experience with columnar storage databases
  • Knowledge of econometric and/or statistical methodologies
