Solna Municipality, Sweden Karlstad University Full time

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated researcher to join our team at the Unit for Experimental Traumatology. As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be responsible for conducting research on neurotraumatology, with a focus on improving our understanding of traumatic brain injury.

About the Research Initiative

The ReBINT initiative is a comprehensive research effort to investigate effects of mild traumatic brain injury from repeated blast overpressure exposure (BOP). Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) is one of the most common combat injuries, with blast-related injuries being unique to military contexts and making up a substantial proportion of all military-related mTBI.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, where you will have the chance to contribute to cutting-edge research and develop your skills as a researcher. You will be part of a team that is passionate about advancing knowledge in neurotraumatology and translating research findings into practice.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in neuroscience or a related field and significant experience in experimental research. You will be expected to conduct original research, analyze data, and present findings in a clear and concise manner. Your expertise in statistical analysis, scientific writing, and presentation will also be valuable assets to our team.

In addition to your technical skills, we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, flexible, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively. You will be required to travel occasionally to attend conferences and workshops.

Goals and Objectives

The research goals of ReBINT include the following:

  1. Studying damage mechanisms in the brain, from tissue to molecular level
  2. Identifying indicators for early diagnosis
  3. Tracking cognitive and sleep changes via telemetry
  4. Evaluating helmet designs and materials
  5. Exploring medical and training-based interventions

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in neurobiology, trauma research, and laboratory procedures. If you are interested in joining our team and contributing to groundbreaking research in neurotraumatology, please submit your application.
