Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior Field Applications Engineers to develop new customer designs, perform technical reviews, and provide analysis and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Conduct new product evaluations and provide extensive hands-on support in the local lab.
  • Focus on understanding and demonstrating Renesas' value proposition and solving technical concerns to ensure customers use Renesas products.
  • Perform product characterization, design simulations, and competitive analysis.
  • Evolve into a Field Applications Engineer role, taking on additional responsibilities and becoming the primary technical resource for pre-sales and post-sales support in the region.
  • Secure design wins across a wide range of customers.
  • Meet with customers to cultivate design opportunities, position Renesas products, demonstrate technology, address customer obstacles, and advance opportunities to design wins.
  • Provide real-time support in both reactive and proactive modes for key customers and the Renesas Sales/REP team.
  • Support customers on-site as they work through system-related bring-up or deal with any Renesas products-related issues.
  • Quickly and effectively troubleshoot power supply circuits, assist with external component selection and board layout, lead technical discussions, and present technical features and benefits of Renesas products.
  • Achieve assigned design win and revenue goals for Renesas products.
  • Provide guidance on the value and strategic fit of assigned product families and work with account teams to establish proper sales goals and strategy.
  • Provide competitive updates to the field and help develop impeding strategies.
  • Establish dialogue with marketing and management teams of assigned product lines, updating them on progress of agreed-to objectives and market dynamics as well as competitive inputs.
  • Modify evaluation boards as required for customer demos, deliver demos to customer sites, and 'bring up' and debug customer boards in the lab.
  • Conduct schematic/layout reviews on-site with customers.
  • Understand competitive offerings and use detailed product understanding to overcome customer obstacles.
  • Lead technical discovery efforts on key customer designs, establishing close relationships with designers, component engineers, local rep sales teams, and distributors.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Candidates must be graduating with a Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of schematics, layouts, and digital components.
  • Knowledge and understanding of analog circuitry (e.g., op-amps, DC/DC power, data converters, sensing, etc.).
  • Knowledge of the semiconductor industry is a plus.
  • Apply business acumen to strive for success while prioritizing efforts towards highest ROI opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills are mandatory, as customer interface will be a significant aspect of the job.
  • Must be a self-motivated team player who is able to take direction, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and communicate effectively.
  • Fluent in local language and English, both written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, along with soldering and debugging skills.
  • Programming skills in C/C++ (LabView recommended).
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions.
  • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery.
  • Ability to build lasting, influential relationships, both inside and outside the organization.
