The Transactional Liability Underwriter is a key role at Ryan Specialty, responsible for developing and implementing underwriting strategies that optimize profitability and manage risk. This position requires a deep understanding of transactional liability laws and regulations, as well as the ability to analyze complex contracts and insurance policies.
Key Responsibilities:- Underwriting Strategy Development: Develop and implement underwriting strategies that optimize profitability and manage risk for assigned accounts.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify and assess potential liabilities, and develop mitigation strategies to minimize risk.
- Expertise Sharing: Share expertise on warranties & indemnity, tax & contingence insurance, and complex risk assessment with associates to inform underwriting decisions.
- Contract Analysis: Analyze intricate contracts, insurance policies, and binder agreements to identify potential liabilities and hidden risks.
- Strategic Partnerships: Foster strategic partnerships to drive new business and secure profitable deals.
- Coverage Customization: Tailor coverage terms and conditions to meet specific client needs while balancing risk considerations and profitability.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve complex underwriting issues and develop mitigation strategies.
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor changes in transactional liability laws and regulations to ensure compliance and adapt underwriting practices accordingly.
- Industry Trends and Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends, conduct research on new sectors, and develop innovative coverage solutions to expand the portfolio.
Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of work experience in Financial or M&A Underwriting with a Bachelor's degree or minimum of 3 years of work experience with a Master's degree.
Education: Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred; Business Administration, Finance, and Risk Management preferred. Any other related discipline or commensurate work experience considered.
Licenses & Certifications: Prescribed: Minimum requirements for state P&C and/or surplus line licenses. Preferred: Certified Merger and Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA), Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU).
